
Keith N. Hamilton is an attorney and former member of the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole, having been its chair from March 2006 to May 2007, thus becoming the state's first black Cabinet member. He also served as a co-chair of the Utah Commission on Racial and Ethnic Fairness in the Criminal and Juvenile Justice System. Keith graduated from high school in North Carolina and then North Carolina State University prior to receiving his Juris Doctor degree from J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University. Following law school, Keith served on active duty as a judge advocate with the United States Navy in San Francisco and Rota, Spain, and now serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force Reserve. Keith is a member of the Utah State Bar, the Bar of the U.S. Supreme Court, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. His LDS Church callings have included service as a bishop and branch president. Before entering law school Keith served as a full-time missionary in Puerto Rico and Barbados. He currently served in the High Priests group in his local ward. He also volunteer at the Jordan River Utah Temple. A former radio personality and disc jockey in N.C., Keith's interests include music, sports, and theater. An occasional actor, Keith has performed in several community stage productions in roles such as Tom Robinson in "To Kill a Mockingbird." Keith and his wife, Ludy, live in South Jordan, Utah with their three sons. He also has three adult children from a prior marriage.
