The next 20 years he served as a U.S. diplomat in Kuwait, Sarajevo, Tunis, Kabul, Brussels, Washington, Istanbul, and Dublin. Kirk lives in Baltimore with his wife and two intrepid cats, writing a second novel and book of short stories.
