In her memoir "Kvetch" concert pianist-turned-music journalist Greta Beigel looks back sometimes in horror, often with humor at (dysfunctional) Jewish family life in South Africa, lived under the umbrella of apartheid where prejudice ruled. In telling her tale, Greta inhabits many roles: child piano prodigy wowing audiences at age 7, to typical teen to naive newlywed and finally California writer and editor interviewing the luminaries of the classical music world.
