After a childhood spent in poverty and isolation, Landy flees her family, her rural mountain home and the ghost of her disturbed mother. Moving to a college town she tentatively begins to meet new people, including Claire, her out lesbian neighbor, who slowly helps her untangle her recurring nightmares and confusion about her emerging sexuality.
