Part of Series

Last Shot is the SIXTH offbeat (and very funny) mystery in the Dev Haskell Private Investigator series. Dysfunctional PI Dev Haskell receives a request from beautiful, red-headed Desi Quinn to investigate the trumped-up charges that ruined her life and sent her to prison six years ago. Desi's life was destroyed after a brief relationship with upstanding citizen, Man-of-the-Year Gaston Driscoll, who just happened to be her boss. She views Dev as her last hope—her last shot—but the impossibly dangerous scenario she describes makes Dev think the investigation would be out of his league; he politely declines. As Desi's story slowly unravels, Dev realizes (under a mountain of guilt) that he made a huge mistake. He embarks on a mission to make things right, only to become a killer's next target. An entertaining tale of intrigue, rank ineptitude, and raucously entertaining one night stands, Last Shot is another funny, fast paced, engrossing thriller from Minnesota’s master of the bizarre. Dysfunctional PI Dev Haskell turns down a request from red-headed Desi Quinn to investigate the trumped up charges that ruined her life and sent her to prison 6 years ago. Desi's life was destroyed after a brief relationship with upstanding citizen, Man-of-the-Year and her boss, Gaston Driscoll. She views Dev as her last hope, her last shot, but the scenario she describes makes Dev think the investigation would be out of his league and he politely declines. Things take an ugly turn and the more Dev uncovers the more he realizes he was indeed her Last Shot and he made a huge mistake. He goes on a mission to make things right, no matter the cost. Until he suddenly finds himself the target. He’ll follow it through to the end, no matter where it takes him, and it still won’t erase the guilt he feels for turning Desi Quinn down. An entertaining tale of intrigue, rank ineptitude and one night stands. Last Shot is another fast paced, engrossing suspense thriller from Minnesota’s master of the bizarre, Mike Faricy.

I was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, I still live there as well as in Dublin, Ireland. I've been a soldier, freelance journalist, tended bar, sold designer cakes, owned a painting and decorating company along with a number of other schemes and scams. If that doesn't offend you I also play bagpipes with the Brian Boru Irish Pipe Band. All my books stand alone, read them in whatever order you wish. They are filled with the sort of oddballs we are all curious about, but wisely, prefer to keep at a distance. None of my characters will be saving the world from terrorism, international banking conspiracies or coups to take over the government. Rather, they inhabit a world just below the surface of polite society, characters with one foot on either side of the law. The circumstances they find themselves in are usually due to bad decisions, but bad decisions lead to interesting stories. They serve not so much as an example but as a warning to us all. Thanks for taking the time, happy reading.
