Laura S. Jones is an attorney who vastly prefers writing stories and rescuing dogs. She is a long time employee and volunteer with dog rescue organizations. Saving Sadie and Sasha tells the powerful story of her adventurous year with two foster pit pulls. Breaking and Entering, her debut short story collection, was published in 2011. Dogs often show up in those stories, too, along with a slew of divers characters. Her journalism has appeared in the Washington Post, Virginia Maryland Dog Magazine, and SWIMMER Magazine among other places. Laura lives with her husband, two adored pit bull mixes and two tolerant cats in Virginia. Fallout Shelter, one of the stories in Breaking and Entering, was originally published in Short Story America Anthology, Volume One and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. The story Renewal won an award from WriterHouse in Charlottesville in 2013. Laura started Tidal Press in 2011 as a way to get her books out there and then expanded in 2015 to publish the work of other amazing writers. When not writing, reading, or thinking about reading and writing, Laura enjoys open water swimming and the occasional pool race, and dreams of the day when dogs can talk. Born and raised in North Carolina, her main memories of her home include the color of the red clay, tall, skinny pine trees, and the smell of curing tobacco. Currently Laura is working on Fouled Out, a novel about murder and the ‘win at all costs’ culture of big time college sports. Yes, there is a dog in it. When not steering Tidal Press (www.TidalPress.com), she maintains a website at LauraSJones.com and a blog at Lsjwrites.blogspot.com.
