Lenora Thaker descends from Erub and Mabuyag Islands and lives on Gimuy Walubara Yidinji country. She is a published writer and was awarded the 2021 Boundless Indigenous Writ- ers Prize for her forthcoming historical novel about a family of Torres Strait Islanders living on a mainland shantytown around World War II.
