This novel takes place after Freed (#3 Flamestone Trilogy.) Jaden's nothing but a traitor and he knows it. He's sold out his settlement to the Flamestone Society in the hope of getting his mother back from them. Instead, he's now cursed to dwell underground and avoid the toxic rays of the sun, which will kill him. There's no hope of redemption. The best he can hope to do is find his mother so she can go back to Earth. But in his search for her, he discovers an entire culture of people like him—the Disgraced—far underground. They're in danger from both starvation and a sadistic leader who's rising through their ranks. And worse—the guy he sold out is with them, doomed to remain underground until he can find a cure.
