The book "Lights, Camera, Auschwitz!" Stars a ferocious young man in the Nazi German army who displays an unusual mix of innocence, sincerity, dedication and honesty. He's a hardcore patriot and does whatever is thought of as good for the nation, i.e, slaying the prisoners religiously, harassing the oppressors tirelessly, all until his personal experiences begin to question his morality. A thunder runs down his spine when he discovers the shocking origin of his wife Melissa, whom he met during his university days. Now, being a Nazi nationalist, he is forced to become receptive of the rights and the wrongs in his actions and realise that the "right" in Nazi terms is in fact against morals. However, he does not have the time to fuss about his dilemma too much as his work in the concentration camp piles up and the Nazi pledge commands: See no mercy, adhere to no sentiments, cater to no one's needs. Meanwhile, his childhood Friend, Jonas Jonathan has a contrasting mix of traits: Humourous, patriotic, puerile, pretend seriousness (before his fellow soldiers and leaders) and an attribute of trying to please the Fuhrer. The two of them look forward to working together in the concentration camp, but destiny has got different plans for them. Jonas is required to serve in the Gestapo under th Fuhrer in major cities with high Jewish population. Jonas comes to learn about the origin of Alrick's wife and this creates a stain in their relationship. He begins to consider Alrick as a traitor, betraying the state for his selfishness. Yet he does not conspicuously display much of his hostility as he knows what an enigma Melissa is, and her origin would not lead anyone into considering the contrary about her. Alrick and Jonas thus diverge, in their own paths, setting off to fulfil their duties the best way possible. Lieutenant Alrick Keinz becomes a popular name in the concentration camp, yet it's not long before his aggressiveness pacifies. Unexpected turns happen in his life and it all happens for the good. Jonas is sent to Auschwitz after a while along with some of his Gestapo members. It's a surprise for Alrick and Jonas alike. They face moments of awkwardness. The story takes a whole different turn when Jonas falls In love with a girl in the concentration camp. Thus, the friends begin to wear the same shoe. Alrick is in for a shock when he discovers this. This girl is none other than their childhood friend who had to leave them after a while. Jonas accused Alrick of being a traitor when he was clearly innocent. Fate set them apartment but love which is blind wove them together once again. One day, the girl is forced into the gas chamber without Alrick or Jonas knowing about it. They realised that her wish to see them together became her last wish. They sprinted to the gas chamber and tried to save her, only in vain. But she was happy enough seeing them together and there, right before their eyes was a lesson for Jonas. Alrick faces the same situation with Melissa's death when she turns up one day upon learning that she'd been sent away only to be saved. Being a law-abiding, sincere woman, she decided to finish off her own life in tribute to the other Prisoners who had been leaving theirs unreasonably. Both the women spoke the same last words. Both of them were wishes. Alrick and Jonas decided that they would do anything to fulfil that. They set out to pay homage to their dead darlings with a rather inexplicable sense of determination. It wasn't long before they could finish it. Where life takes them there on seems like a shock! They felt it was enough being the reason for death, misery and tears. They set out to reverse the impacts of all they had done wrong. They wanted to transform the tears of sadness they caused to become tears of joy and laughter. The story ends with how they manage to accomplish this feat.
