Lisa Krok, MLIS, MEd, is a library manager in the Cleveland, Ohio, area and a former teacher. Her passion is reaching marginalized teens and reluctant readers through young adult literature. Lisa served on the Best Fiction for Young Adults 2021 committee and the Quick Picks for Reluctant Readers committee in 2018 and 2019. She also has words in School Library Journal, Kirkus, and Teen Librarian Toolbox. Lisa says: "I wrote this book as a guide for teachers and librarians to help them with reaching all teens, and especially marginalized teens and reluctant or striving readers. My book offers information about WHY novels in verse are great for teens, and includes an extensive reader's advisory section with bibliographic information, grade level advisory, content tags, a brief summary, and poetry writing activities for HOW to further engage the reader. CCSS and AASL standards are also provided for ease in lesson planning."
