M. L. Bell is a high school student in Northern Maine. She has three published works: COFFEE GETS COLD QUICK, WE ARE HUMAN STILL, and FOR PEOPLE MY AGE. Her debut, COFFEE GETS COLD QUICK (published 2022), is a historical fiction novel-in-verse. It tells a story of resilience, overcoming grief and heartbreak, and finding your true place in the world when there's no one left to turn to. COFFEE GETS COLD QUICK is the 2023 winner of the Next Generation Indie Book Awards Young Author (written under age 25) category. WE ARE HUMAN STILL (published 2023), also a novel-in-verse, is a story of what happens when the world is foretold to End within five years, written from the perspectives of two teen narrators. FOR PEOPLE MY AGE is M. L. Bell's newest publication and first poetry collection. Through these poems of personal reflection, she explores the influential people, experiences, places, and ideas that have shaped her life, encouraging readers to dive deeper into their own. M. L. Bell's short story, "Phantom Pains" also won acclaim from the Next Generation Indie Short Story Awards as the 2024 winner of the High School category. When she is not busy writing stories and poetry, M. L. Bell can be found rereading her favorite books too many times, playing her instruments, and spending time with her family (though she is often thinking up a story while doing all of these things).
