Marceline Smith is a kawaii illustrator and blogger based on the West Coast of Scotland. Growing up surrounded by cute characters like Miffy, Hello Kitty and Pikachu, Marceline was soon dreaming of visiting Japan. Her first trip there in 2006 filled her with a love for kawaii characters, colourful design and food with faces and she has returned 3 times to explore the country further. Having graduated with a degree in Fine Art, Marceline eventually quit her job in corporate web design to create her own line of kawaii character goods as Asking For Trouble, co-found popular daily kawaii blog Super Cute Kawaii and self-publish guides to kawaii shopping and sightseeing in Japan. Inspired by the riot grrls of the 1990s Marceline has been self-publishing her own zines since she was a teenager on subjects from music and video games to travel guides and comics. She self-published her first paperback book in 2011 and has another Japan book in progress. Her hobbies include sewing, astronomy, playing Nintendo, visiting botanic gardens, eating cake, collecting kawaii stationery and plush, writing lists and reading books of course!
