I've spent most of my working life as a teacher and manager of adult education, working for local councils, charities and a small social enterprise, and I can safely say that teaching is a lot more fun than management. As well as teaching English, Maths and Creative Writing, both online and in traditional classes, I’ve also devised and delivered community courses in consultation with local groups. Some of this experience has made its way into the draft of a comic novel, which I may even dare to publish. Before my career in adult learning I worked in the travel trade, the printing industry and as a care assistant in a residential home - the most stressful, demanding and badly-paid job I have ever done. I've also spent some years studying, resulting in a B.A. in English Literature, an M.A. in Creative Writing and a postgraduate teaching qualification. Now happily retired, when I’m not struggling with the difficult third book I spend my time training for various marathons, travelling and bird watching. For many years I also played tenor sax in a number of pub bands. I'm currently working on a planned trilogy, collectively entitled The Mouseman Project. You can find extracts from the first two books in the series - Juno and the Mouseman, and Mouseman - on the Writing Idol website. The third book is currently work in progress. I've also written a couple of plays, now converted into the short stories Talking Tortoise and The Merrie England Conspiracy, one of which you can read for free if you sign up to my newsletter.
