María Fasce (Argentina, 1969) is a writer and the literary director of Alfaguara in Madrid. She has translated Marcel Proust and Patrick Modiano, and has worked as a journalist, literary and cinema critic. Her work has been translated into French, English, Russian, Dutch, Portuguese and German. She has published several novels and story collections, including La verdad según Virginia (Virginia’s Truth) and La felicidad de las mujeres (The Happiness of Women, Primer Premio del Fondo Nacional de las Artes 1999). The Woman of Isla Negra was written as part of the Writers in Residence program in Amsterdam. Her collection of unpublished stories Un hombre bueno (A Good Man) won the Premio Iberoamericano Cortes de Cádiz 2015.
