Life appears to be status quo for the residents of Sea View. Everyone works doubly hard to move beyond the upheavals of the past year. Ryan’s girlfriend, Betsy Franklin, hails from a long line of nurses, including her half-brother, Lenny. an ICU nurse at the local hospital, Lenny is also an alcoholic and on the verge of losing his job if he doesn’t straighten up fast. When his girlfriend tires of his shenanigans, she kicks him out of their apartment and he moves into Ryan and Betsey’s basement bedroom. He hits rock bottom when he’s forced to take a leave of absence while attending AA meetings at the local Babylon church. Although they weren’t really married, pregnant heart surgeon Kassandra Coeur is trying to put her life back together after a shocking discovery involving her ex, Tony Roman, a few months earlier. What she really needs is help in her new cardiac referral office. Betsy is tired of Lenny lounging around when he can’t work, so she suggests her brother applies for the job, hopefully killing two birds with one stone. However, nothing is ever as simple as it seems on Sea View.
