I’m Michael Belliotti, a children’s author who writes stories shaped by resilience, empathy, and the belief that every child deserves to feel seen and valued. As difficult as chronic pain can be, it has taught me something profoundly important: how to speak about empathy from a place of truth. Understanding differences, showing compassion, and honoring each person’s journey aren’t abstract ideas to me—they are lessons I’ve lived, and they guide every story I write. My books celebrate bravery, kindness, and the beauty of being uniquely yourself, because those are the values that carried me through my own darkest moments. Quick FYI - After surviving a tragic car accident in 2007 and living with permanent disabilities and chronic nerve pain for nearly two decades, I’ve experienced firsthand the challenges that come with hardship, loss, and rebuilding a life piece by piece rising up to every challenge. Inspired by my mother, a devoted preschool teacher, I hope my stories help children feel proud of who they are and gentle toward others who may be carrying invisible struggles. If one child feels more understood, more confident, or more connected after reading my work, then I’ve done something meaningful. When I’m not writing, I enjoy the quieter hobbies that fit within the limits of my disability—things like watching movies that spark imagination, reading books that expand perspective, and exploring creativity in ways my body allows. These moments of rest and reflection help fuel my storytelling, reminding me that joy can be found in small, steady ways. Above all, I have a deep passion for supporting children who don’t always feel seen, heard, or understood. Growing up—and even as adults—so many of us carry invisible challenges, and I want my books to be a safe place for every child who needs encouragement, reassurance, or a reminder of their own worth. My goal is to empower kids from all backgrounds and abilities, showing them that their feelings matter, their differences are beautiful, and their stories deserve to be celebrated. If my work can help or inspire even one child to stand a little taller, feel a little braver, or recognize the light they already carry inside them, then every page I write has purpose. — Michael Belliotti | Children’s Author | Chronic Pain Warrior | Creative Storyteller | Founder of The Shoup Group Publishing Company | 2025 Readers' Favorite 5 Star Award Recipient | Member of The Children's Literature Association
