Michael was born in Leeds in 1967 the child of parents who had migrated from India to Britain in search of a better life. He read Philosophy and Economics at Cardiff University and graduated with an MA in Continental Philosophy from the University of Warwick. Shortly after writing his thesis on the philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche and a few days after falling in love, he had his first psychotic breakdown from which he made a full recovery. He went onto work as a Researcher and Radio Producer at the BBC for more than a decade on award winning flagship programmes until he was diagnosed with being Bipolar.
