Millie Rafferty – The Uncertain Years. In the third book in the series 15 year old Millie Rafferty is pregnant, she soon realises that in order to protect her family from possible eviction, and to spare the feelings of the man she loves, who is not the father of her unborn child, she must leave her home and all she holds dear. She gets taken in by a family of travellers who roam the country following the fairs. Her daily life is spent on the move and she is taken ever further from her adopted home of Liverpool. Then one day something happens which makes Millie realise, that as much as she likes some of her travelling companions, their way of life and values are at odds with all she has been brought up to believe in, and so she decides to leave them and try to make her way back home to those she loves and hope that they will accept her back. By this time she is heavily pregnant, with only a little money in her pocket and no idea how she will make the journey before the birth of her baby.
