Fun Alien Invasion Adventure The aliens first invaded through wormholes in 2024, and 17 years later, society still tries to adapt to the rampaging giant insect-like creatures. The government mandates military science classes for all school children. Every citizen over age 16 must serve as Auxiliary Riflemen, ready to battle the marauding aliens whenever they burst out of their hives. (New 2nd Edition in Sept 2019 with new editor and new proofreader) During his final year of high school, Tommy Williams receives *the* order from TacNet for the first time as incursion sirens blare all around him. As he fights for his life, the discovery of a mysterious alien device sucks him and his nerdy friends into the world of government spooks, enigmatic computer hackers, conspiracy theories, and warnings of the alien apocalypse. Even the aliens seem to take a particular interest in him, and incursion after incursion rip through his hometown, each more ferocious and more devastating than the last. This book is a spin on the classic military sci-fi trope seen in such works as Starship Troopers, Terms of Enlistment, Earth Alone, etc... where the story begins with the protagonists in their final year of high school and then transition into military life. The angle in this story is that the situation is too dire to wait until after high school to begin military training. Military Science classes begin in elementary school and by the latter half of high school, students must be ready to serve as militia when needed. High schools are organized as Auxiliary Riflemen battalions, and students are encouraged to play combat simulation games.
