At sixteen I discovered I was adopted – a revelation that shattered everything I thought I knew and began a decades-long search for my father. My memoir, The Kintsugi Poet: Blood Memory, Family Secrets, and Identity, grew out of that journey. It tells the of family secrets, loss, resilience, and miracles – of finding my father alive at fifty-nine, and an entire Italian–Australian family I never knew I had. I also write under the pen name Anna Verduci – the name that was denied me – and I am working on a series of novels that weave together myth, memory, and Renaissance history. When I’m not writing, I socialise, sing, make music on the ukulele, take photos, walk my dog Angel, and go hiking.
