
Moonblood by Kirk Decker is a fantasy fiction novel that follows its hero Colton "Colt" Moonblood, a young Native American college student and shapeshifter to his hometown of Watoge, Oklahoma for summer break after discovering his town and family are under siege from dark forces that seek to destroy his family and enslave humanity. Along the way, he encounters a Nunnehi, an immortal being that has taken a special interest in the Moonblood family and begins acting as his guide. Following a crisis that leaves one of his brothers dead, an evil being emerges and launches an assault that leaves two additional family members dead and others wounded. In the midst of the chaos, Colt's wife and two-year-old son vanish under mysterious circumstances, triggering a war that threatens to destroy the family from within. With the help of his father and remaining brother who are also shapeshifters, Colt sets out to rescue his wife and two-year-old son along with avenging their fallen family members and trying to figure out what happened, and more importantly—why. Moonblood is a story of family, love, and the high cost of redemption.
