I'm an avid reader of fiction and non-fiction. I particularly like the work of Neil Gaiman and William Gibson but am a fan of Kazuo Ishiguro, Simon Sebag Montifiore, Niall Ferguson and Antony Beevor as well. I enjoy reading Antony Beevor's books because he has a knack of getting to the story of the individual even if his subject is as wide sweeping as the Spanish Civil War or the siege of Stalingrad (I actually felt cold reading that book!). I enjoy fantasy rooted in the real world as opposed to made up worlds but this is not to the exclusion of everything else as I can read pretty much anything as long as it's well written, with the possible exception of chick lit. To sum up, I guess I'm a fan of books in general but the urban fantasies of Gaiman and Gibson are my favourite read.
