In May of 2015, TEARS AND TROMBONES won an Independent Publishers bronze medal (IPPY) for BEST FICTION IN THE WESTERN REGION. Nanci went to New York City to receive the award. Nanci Lee Woody, ostensibly retired (from college teaching and administrating), writes all the time - poetry, song lyrics, short stories, and a novel. She can't help it because stories and poems happen to her all the time - in Home Depot, her own back yard, on a visit with friends. She has won writing contests and published short stories and poetry on line and in print anthologies. She also loves photography and is a great admirer of birds, and, it follows, she loves to photograph birds. But she'll take her Nikon with her everywhere and take pictures - preferably unusual photos that others might pass on - of just about anything. Her photographs have been shown in juried shows in various galleries and on the annual on-air KVIE art auction. Tears and Trombones has received several editorial reviews.
