One of the greatest works of Polish romantisism and the best known Krasiński's drama . A protagonist, Duke Henry, represents old-fashioned aristocratic ideals, but he has to confront them historical situation. "The Undivine Comedy" shows world on the edge of social revolution - outbreak bringing fake equality, and only for a moment. The protagonist sees that changes are impossible to be stopped. Nevertheless, he do not want to give up his philosophy, because the duke is not eager to let revolution rule world he lives in. As for him, reavolution means stupid violency and the fall of the human race. Having been deprived of hapiness in personal life, Henry decides to fight for his ideals. The second theme of the drama is crisis of family and marriage. Henry, an artist, is accusing his wife of restraining him from being who he call a "true poet". Being not able to distinguish real moral values from fake visions, he destroys his family. World shown in Krasiński's work is depressing and makes a strong impression on the reader. Two hundred years after creation of the drama, one should think hard, whether the XIX century poet was not right, when he was writing about democracy leading to debasement of people and coming crisis of family.
