Avram Greenberg survived them the Nazi occupation of Poland, the misery of ghetto life, Auschwitz, hard labor in coal mines, and a brutal death march. When liberation came, he returned to Lodz, Poland, to wait for his family to return. None came back. After five months of mourning, a chance encounter with a woman on the streets of post-war Lodz gave Avram a glimmer of hope that his wife had survived too, and led him on a six-hundred-mile journey to a displaced persons camp outside Frankfurt, Germany. No Matter How Far follows Avram’s arduous journey. Along the way, he encounters rigid Russian diplomats, thieves, thugs, and continued antisemitism, but nothing stops him from his mission.
