Jackie O

On the Couch

2011

Jackie O: On the Couch is the story of Jackie Kennedy Onassis as she might have written it. This is not just another biography. For the first time, Jackie O: On the Couch highlights Jackie's life from her own perspective, as imagined by author Dr. Alma Bond, a psychoanalyst and long-time student of Jackie lore. The facts are all historically correct, as are the ideas, the Washington intrigue and politics, and the examination of the role of women in society and in the White House. Jackie speaks of her need to record her story truthfully-to replace the hodgepodge of lies published during her lifetime. Speaking as an older woman, she ponders how her points of view have changed from those she held when she was young. The book delves into her childhood and explores how and why Jackie became the person she was. It also explores the Kennedys, and how John F. Kennedy's background affected his marriage. Jackie's deep love for Jack, his early inattentiveness, their difficulties together, his outrageous womanizing, happy times at the White House, and the tragedy of his assassination-all are viewed through Jackie's eyes. Jackie writes of her need for Aristotle Onassis, debunking the notion that she married him purely for his money, and traces the joyful early years of the marriage through to its dramatic collapse and Ari's difficult death. A different Jackie emerges into the world of publishing. Her new persona allows her to establish her very best relationship with the stout and adoring Maurice Tempelsman, until non-Hodgkins lymphoma takes her life in 1994, at age 64. Jackie O: On the Couch is a unique exploration of the life and loves of a great historical figure. Jackie Kennedy Onassis deeply prized her privacy and, as a result, she was both revered and mysterious. In this book, much of the mystery is shed as Jackie finally emerges as a fully fleshed-out, three-dimensional person-a true human being, with enormous strengths and shortcomings, who all of us can now understand and appreciate, perhaps for the first time.

Marilyn Monroe

On the Couch

2013

There is much written, rumored, told, and retold about Marilyn Monroe, but the most unusual and remarkable fact about her is this: In person as well as in her films, she appeared to be outright luminous―enveloped by a glow, like a firefly in the dark. But exquisite as it can be, luminosity can be a kind of camouflage. It can hide the truth underneath. Through the fictional framework of Marilyn’s therapy sessions and relationship with New York City based psychoanalyst Darcy Dale, psychoanalyst and women's biographer Alma Bond captures just what lay beneath Marilyn’s radiance and spell, drawing readers into a fascinating and tragic portrait of Norma Jean Baker, the real life woman behind the American legend. In her very own raw voice, Marilyn shares the untold experiences of her orphan childhood, youth, and adulthood, dominated by ill-fated relationships with men, that could not be mended by stardom and fame and that inevitably led to tragedy. And yet, the Marilyn that emerges in Bond's story is not a victim, but a woman far ahead of her time. Her natural embodiment of female sexuality helped bring about the Cultural Revolution of the 60's. Smashing "the glass ceiling" Marilyn was the first woman to challenge a major studio (20th Century-Fox) by single-handedly establishing her own motion picture company (Marilyn Monroe Productions). She was a true original, who operated on her own ideas. In Marilyn Monroe: On the Couch, Dr. Alma Bond sees Marilyn Monroe, inside and out. What emerges is an intimate understanding of one of the most beloved and celebrated icons in film and sexual history.

Read Lady Macbeth: On the Couch to learn the answer to this ancient mystery, and to get a fascinating, first-hand look at life more than a millennium ago.

Hillary Rodham Clinton On The Couch

Inside The Mind And Life Of Hillary Clinton

2015

This work was published as biographical FICTION and is cataloged by OCLC as biographical fiction. "Although factual information forms the core of Hillary Rodham Clinton : On the Couch, the author never served as Mrs. Clinton's psychoanalyst, and was never granted an interview by Mrs. Clinton. However, it should be noted that most biographers not only never get an opportunity to interview their subjects, but, unlike Dr. Bond, lack the education and training to professionally analyse them." — t.p. verso. Who exactly is Hillary Clinton? Because she announced her candidacy for President in April 2015, and thus could well become the first woman ever to be U.S. President, the question becomes all the more relevant … and important. Fortunately, woman’s biographer Alma H. Bond, a Manhattan psychoanalyst for 37 years, has read just about everything ever published about the former First Lady, U.S. Senator, and Secretary of State, and has written a fascinating, highly readable, and intimate book burning through a great many myths about HRC. • What were her parents like, and what lasting effects did they have on her? • How did her upbringing make her the person she became? • How does she deal with her womanizing husband, and why will she never divorce him? • What role does religion play in her life ... and in her approach to policy? • As a public official, what are her strengths and weaknesses? • When she served as First Lady, what was she truly trying to accomplish . . . and did she succeed? • As a U.S. senator, why was she so effective in working with members of the opposite party? • As Secretary of State, how well did she get along with President Barack Obama? • In what ways, if any, was her tenure as Secretary of State different from that of all her predecessors? • To what extent is she a hawk when it comes to foreign policy? • Was she truly at fault in the tragedy known as Benghazi? • In her mind, how crucial is it to advance the cause of women around the world? These and many other questions are answered clearly in Dr. Bond’s highly readable and remarkably intimate look at one of the most celebrated, admired, and despised women in the world. More important, after readers turn the final page, they’ll know Hillary better than they know practically anyone else.
