The year is 1584. The alchemist Edward Kelley has arrived stupendously in Prague Castle, bedazzling the Royal Court with an awe-inspiring display of mystical power. The emperor is spellbound, convinced that this miracle-worker has come to save his empire in its time of need. But isn't it all too good to be true? Enter Nora and Tomik, two kids from the 21st century. She's a quick-witted girl from New Jersey; he's a Czech boy with a mischievous streak. All they want is someone to explain how they've ended up in a place where everyone has weird clothing and ugly teeth. Instead, they're being told that they hold the fate of the empire in their hands. That would be fine... if they knew anything at all about life in the 1500s. Nora may not know a chamber pot from a teapot, but it doesn't take her long to realize that the celebrated alchemist Kelley is a fraud. As far as the emperor is concerned, however, the words of a mere girl carry little weight. The only way to get him to listen to reason is for Nora and Tomik to come up with some miracles of their own. But time is running out!
