Wrongfully Engaged
2016
What happens when best friends fall in love—but it’s one-sided? Tina Pruitt is perplexed when her best friend Zach begins to distance himself from her. In an effort to rekindle their friendship, she attends a Blitz Dating event where Zach confesses that he’s tired of waiting for her to return the love he feels for her. In an ironic twist, her former roommate’s ex-boyfriend, Ted Flannigan, who Tina had disliked in the past, rescues her from a humiliating situation. Ted Flannigan went on a self-improvement quest after he made a fool of himself chasing after his former girlfriend when she got engaged to another man. He swore he’d never pursue a woman attached to another man again. As a result of his relationship research, he created a speed dating program that matched participants based on a questionnaire and their ratings from the Blitz Dates. Participants agree to extend and accept three date requests for the following week. The last person Ted expected to make a connection with was Tina Pruitt. When his business partner and best friend is attacked, Tina shows up at the hospital wearing Zach’s engagement ring and Ted is devastated. As more women from the singles group are attacked, Ted becomes concerned for Tina’s safety. Is he making the biggest mistake of his life by refusing to fight for Tina? Not Intentionally Engaged was originally published under the title Wrongfully Engaged, and has been professionally edited and extensively revised, including a new ending.
