What do a rare coin, a cake, and a camera have in common? They mysteriously vanish on the same day, at the same time, from the same place. When school newspaper reporter Eva is accused of stealing a valuable penny at The Topsy Turvy Cafe, it's a real life whodunit and she's the main subject. One little fib leads to another. Then an article she wrote about garbage creates a big stink with the businesses in Whistle Creek. Luckily, her private eye pup, Choo, is a pro at solving even the trickiest cases. Together they go undercover to find the real crook. While Eva and Choo are hot on the trail of clues, feelings are heating up about the trash problem. The little lies that slipped out of Eva's mouth so easily have made it hard for her friends to forgive her. When she's asked to join a protest in town, she's not sure she can drum up the courage. Eva know what is the right thing to do-but why does it feel so wrong?
