Pamela Rose Anders was born in Chicago in 1949. Her original name was Philip Andrew Mair. Pamela served two years in the army infantry in the late 60's, and left Chicago for Dallas, Texas in 1979, where she began a 22 year magazine publishing and journalism career. During the next few years, she wrote two humor books under her male name. In 2004, after two failed marriages and three children, Pamela began the transition from male to female. Faced with unemployment and homelessness, she became an over the road truck driver. During the next three years, she slowly morphed from a male driver to a female driver, and wrote her book, Gypsy Moon. Pamela currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona.
