Patrick Kennedy has had an exciting life. He was a Nurse, Intensive Care Ambulance Paramedic and a Media Consultant and a news writer for many organisations. He started writing books in 1999 and has written four well sought after books. The most exciting was You Must See Some Terrible Things which takes you on a 'buckle your seat belt' white knuckled ride through his career as a Paramedic. Keep your emotions in check as you go with him on emergencies in the home, in car accidents and plane crashes. He began writing his latest book Long Bay in 2013 and it was published in 2018. This is a unique blend of storytelling and history, weaving true crime into painstaking research. Kennedy takes the reader back more than a century when the original women’s prison opened and trams delivered felons from the city. The book received a prestigious Royal Australian Historical Society Grant which allowed more than 100 photos to be published. Pat first became interested in writing after reading his father's (Ted) reports as the Chief Nurse at Long Bay Correctional Centre. These were tumultuous times at the prison with violent rioting and amazing escapes. In 2023, he finished his children's book Paramedic Billy Be Safe's Very Hot Day. Later in the same year, he published his Memoir - Paramedic, Parent, P-Plate Preacher . He is currently writing the history of Sydney's Prince Henry Hospital - The Coast.
