Officer Down
2021
Paul Adams’s nursing shift at the Norfolk & Norwich Emergency Department is coming to an end when a case comes in that marks the start of a sequence of events that leave him questioning everything about his life. Something’s got to give, but the question is, what? Seriously considering a change of direction, Adams finds himself at Royal Air Force Cranwell a few weeks later where RAF medic, Lizzie Jarman, has just started her new career. Having just graduated from RAF Halton. It isn’t long before she realises that life in the Armed Forces isn’t what she thought it would be. Basic training was tough, but real life in the British military is even tougher for very different reasons. Convinced he’s flunked the initial interview, Adams is resigned to civilian life when his services—and Lizzie’s—are required urgently. When their paths finally cross, the stakes couldn’t be higher. But will their combined skills be enough to save a man’s life? Introducing Paul Adams and Lizzie Jarman from the British Military Thriller series, this novella is a companion to the main series and introduces readers to the two characters when they meet for the first time.

Man Down
2019
You don't have to be killed in action to be a casualty of war. Medics Paul Adams and Lizzie Jarman are one of the most welcome sights to injured soldiers in the war-torn poppy fields of Afghanistan. With red crosses on their arms and medical equipment strapped to their backs, they thunder into battle in a Chinook helicopter – straight into areas everyone else is desperate to get away from. In the middle of the fiercest fighting British troops have seen since the Falklands War, the medics are the last defence from death on the ground in some corner of a foreign field. But in Afghanistan, where a hostile is only obvious when they raise a weapon, there's no such thing as a non-combatant. And not all enemies are on the other side. Despite the heroic efforts of the medics on the ground and in the air, someone in the field hospital is determined to finish what the Taliban has started. Wounded soldiers – who should be living – are dying. Their deadliest enemy is much closer to home than they realise. As the death toll and the temperature rise, can the medics finish their tour of duty, or will it finish them?

Incoming Fire
2020
Even when you’re flying a desk, Afghanistan is a dangerous place. Medic Paul Adams thought he’d seen the last of Afghanistan after his last tour almost killed him and his colleague, Lizzie Jarman. They’d been there, done that, and got the medal. But he can’t turn down a temporary promotion. Just as he arrives in Kandahar air base, rockets start raining down, dealing death and destruction in equal measure. Unknown to Adams, Lizzie isn’t where he thought she was. Now much more than just a colleague, he thought she was safe and sound back at home. Sent out to replace a fallen medic, Lizzie’s on patrol outside the wire where the risk of horrendous injury or death is far higher, utterly random, and ever present. The insurgents outside the air base aren’t the only threat to Adams and Lizzie. There’s another enemy, far closer, who is much more threatening - and they’re both firmly in the centre of his sights. It’s no longer simply a question of survival. But when none of their enemies are wearing a uniform, how can Lizzie and Adams recognise them before it’s too late?

Enemy Within
2021
How can you fight an enemy when you don’t know who they are? Medics Paul Adams and Lizzie Jarman are back at home, recovering from two brutal tours of Afghanistan. They’re in the process of getting on an even keel when, in an attempt to escape the horrific memories of combat, Lizzie decides to take a sabbatical in Sierra Lone. Back in the United Kingdom aspiring investigative journalist, Eleanor Vickers, has uncovered something unusual about the local bio-technology institute that is sponsoring Lizzie’s sabbatical. She risks everything to uncover the truth about the secretive establishment while around her, invisible forces are determined to start a very different type of war—the likes of which the world has never seen. But as the first shot is fired, Lizzie is right in its path. With Adams thousands of miles away and unable to help, Lizzie’s fate—and the fate of countless others—is unknowingly in Eleanor’s hands. Who is the enemy within? Can Eleanor discover what they are planning in time? Or will it be too late to stop the coming war?

Man Overboard
2021
Medics Paul Adams and Lizzie Jarman are in the process of rebuilding their lives and planning their future when an unexpected opportunity arises for a deployment in the Caribbean. A deployment like neither of them have ever been on before. Based on board a Royal Fleet Auxiliary hospital ship, the RFA Apollo, Adams, Lizzie, and the rest of the crew are supporting relief efforts during the hurricane season. But the Apollo has a dark history, its reputation as an unlucky ship known only to a few. One of the few is Sub-Lieutenant Rebecca Lewis, a newly graduated naval officer with a score to settle that goes back generations. To the west of the Apollo’s location, a slow-moving tropical storm is causing a major headache for forecasters. Unknown to the crew of the Apollo, they’re much closer than they realise when it develops into a full-blown hurricane. As the storm bears down on the tiny islands of the Caribbean, the Apollo’s path to safety has precious little margin for error. But Sub-Lieutenant Lewis has other ideas for the ship and all those on board. Including Adams and Lizzie, who are unwilling participants in Lewis’s plan. As the wind and the seas rise, so does the tension on board the Apollo. Can the ship make it to safety before the hurricane strikes, or will Adams and Lizzie feel its full force?
