Paul Burnore has a BA and MA in Literature from Indiana University. He taught poetry and literature at Indiana University, Jundi Shapur University in Iran, Srinakharinwirot University in Thailand, and Anatolia College in Greece. He has self-published four books of poetry: Particles (1999), Currents (2000), Rooted in Verse (2003), and Ulysses’ Towers, Poems About Fathers and Sons (2013). Mr. Burnore led workshops for “poetry-shy” people in Atlanta in 2001-2003, which resulted in the publication of Rooted in Verse, a collection of over 200 poems by 29 people. From 2003-2013 he led theater workshops for “Shakespeare–shy” people, which resulted in numerous groups attending Shakespeare plays at the Atlanta Shakespeare Company. He also served as Education Chair on the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Shakespeare Company from 2008-2014. After his university teaching Mr. Burnore’s professional work has been in the corporate, government and non-profit worlds. Much of his career was overseas. He was a Peace Corps volunteer in Thailand, IBM Asia Pacific Director for software developers in Indonesia, Peace Corps Country Director in Kazakhstan, U.S. AID Privatization Director in Russia, and Managing Director of All Hands Volunteers, an international disaster response non-profit organization. Now living in St. Petersburg, Florida, Mr. Burnore facilitates a bi-weekly critique group of poets called Poetry Nuts. His many years living overseas, along with personal adventures and unexpected love, have shaped his poetry. He is married and has two sons.
