I'm a child of 1960s Liverpool, and though I now live in the south of England, Liverpool is still my home; the city, its people and its great football club will always be close to my heart. When you're born in this city the existence of the other team that might lay claim to greatness is a mute point! When I left to study my other great joint passions of English and Social History, I never imagined I would be waylaid for over twenty years in a successful business career, and struggling to complete the great novel I thought was within me, simply bursting to commit itself to paper. Thanks to the emergence of Apple in personal computing and more recently Amazon in self publishing I no longer have any excuses and have thus decided to give myself the space I feel I have earned after a 25 year stint as a business woman, wife and mother of two great kids. So, here I am now, starting to live the dream. I recently published my first novel 'Shadows of Doubt' on e-platform available via amazon,Yes that's right - the one that's been threatening to break free of me for over twenty years. But just as in life when you've waited for one bus to come along, another usually follows close after and my second novel 'The Widow's Tale' is newly published and here I am daring to contemplate the early rumblings of a new career as an author of historical romance fiction. So an unabashed plug for my literary children... Shadows of Doubt draws upon my great love of social history and in particular the impact of war on human relationships and loyalties. It is focussed on the lives of two people, Sam Reynolds and Emma Johnson and their respective families, as they struggle to make sense of their experiences throughout and in the aftermath of the American civil war. I should add that having escaped, it is now back for re-working and I hope to republish it later this year. The Widow's Tale is intended as the first in a series of stories focussed around a cast of characters living through the civil war period in England. I am currently working on the second in the series which I hope to have out before the end of the year. Both titles will sit under the series 'Swords, Saints and Sinners.' Today I am living in Surrey, England, yes with a family that includes a dog, and giving myself a shot at living the dream! I hope you enjoy my work and I will be happy to hear any feedback or thoughts you may have. If it doesn't kill me, I'm told it will make me stronger!
