Keith Thomas Walker presents seven strange and chilling stories from the gritty streets of Overbrook Meadows, Texas. Enter the mind of the Master of Romantic Suspense and Urban Fiction. And please, make yourself at home. Now featuring the first four chapters of Colored Rags ●●●●● Excerpt ●●●●● “Scalpel. Scalpel. More scalpels. Wow. I didn’t think I had this many…” “Bone saw.” “Plaster saw.” “Splinter forceps.” “Rib shears, lobectomy scissors, and… Yeah, that’s it.” Still peering into the bag, I said, “I’ve got plenty salt for your wounds. I have these…” I held up a large mason jar. “I read some reports from that hospital you were in when you were a kid. Supposedly you’re afraid of spiders. You still afraid of spiders?” The tarantulas were huge but harmless. Totally domesticated, you could squeeze one half to death before it would bite, but Stabler didn’t know that. He gasped and farted at the same time. I returned the jar back to the bag, and he strained his neck trying to keep track of them. I waved a hand in front of my face. “Goodness, man. If you’re going to be farting, try to warn me next time. Jeez.” I rummaged through the bag a bit more. “Well, that’s pretty much it. I’ve got duct tape, vice-grips, a lead pipe, Vaseline… You know, the basics. Oh, and this.” I lifted a brand new pair of pliers. “These are old-school, I know, but I like ’em.” Finally, I removed a manila envelope from the bag and placed it on my lap. “You ready?” “What do you want me to do?” he asked. He was scared and couldn’t hide it anymore. I think it was the spiders that got him. I removed a photo from the envelope. It was large, 8 by 11 inches, so I didn’t have to hold it too close. I showed him the picture. “This is Lacy Rivers, your first victim.” He barely glanced at the black and white photo. “Did you kill her?” I asked. ●●●●● © Keith Thomas Walker
