Corda’s first year at the Academy has come to a close, and most of the students and instructors have gone on vacation. Still recovering from the battles and the fight that ended the year, the young Mage is sad and lonely. The Academy hall’s echo with silence, and the twelve-year-old girl feels like she is haunting the school. In a rush to leave, no one else remembered that Corda no longer has a place to call home. The youngster hopes that her grandmother will quickly return from the Imperial Court, and there will still be some time remaining of the break. Corda’s hopes are granted, and her grandmother comes to steal her away for a quick visit with her other grandfather and some much-needed retail therapy. Finally, she will get to experience the excitement of new places and quality family time. Unfortunately, the long arm of the Emperor reaches out and pulls grandmother and granddaughter back to the dangers of the Imperial Court. After surviving assassination attempts and made attacks, Corda feels confident that a stuffy Court should be no challenge. She was wrong. The only question is how high will the body count be and how many new enemies will she make?
