When Canadian copper miner Clarence Leslie Potter hears of gem tourmalines being mined in Oxford County Maine, he relocates to Bethel to get rich quick. In the family of dress maker Lizzie Millett he finds a safe landing and support as he sets up a new life for himself. One source of problems for him is herbalist Aphia Stevens ax she seeks revenge for imagined harm done to her by Millett. Maine mineral pioneer Jane Perham says of the “Robert has crafted and spun the story so nicely, woven his story with the facts, history with imagination.” This is the second title in the three-novel Lizzie Millett Series, the other titles being The Spinster’s Hope Chest (2018) and Francena Hallett’s Heart, A Novel of Romances and Revenge (2022) published by Maine Authors Publishing.
