Nanciebel's father, Sir John Seymour, had so incurred the displeasure of King Charles by his persistent opposition to the threatened war against the Dutch, that he was sent out of the country. Nothing would dissuade Nanciebel from accompanying him, so they sailed away together and were duly landed on a desolate shore, which they afterwards discovered to be a part of Wales. This edition of Maidlin to the Rescue is reprinted by the Elsie J Oxenham Society. It continues the story of the Abbey Girls, and introduces Maidlin's cousins, about whom she knew nothing, who are suddenly in need of her help - though they don't think so at first! We shall be reprinting more titles originally published by Chambers or Muller in due course. The EJO Society, through its magazine, The Abbey Chronicle, seeks to promote interest in this author and her work, and looks forward to making many more hitherto rare titles available to a wider public over the next few years.
