The unexamined life is not worth living. \— Socrates I work as a software developer at my own company, Daylon Graphics, which produces the popular Leveller terrain modeler. I started it in 1998, and I began writing a few years before that while working at Corel in Ottawa. Generally, I think about where we as a species are and where we're headed, what challenges we'll face, and what kinds of experiences we'll have. Pen and paper, blogs, word processors... these are like flashlights we take with us as we explore the universe, going into every nook and cranny. Occasionally someone finds something and puts more light on it so that everyone else can see it. My latest book Vacant Fire deals with society reacting to the possibility that some people are not conscious (i.e., philosophical zombies).
