Officer Ayaki reporting. Mission my fiancé was cleared of any crime. My next assignment might be the worst of my increasingly bizarre stint at Special Unit A. Inspector Himuro is sending me to the seedy underbelly of the city to work undercover at a peep show. Dirty hallways, filthy men, and sticky floors—you get the picture. But this "lovely" setting is the scene of a brutal crime. A "faceless" woman is cutting off the heads of all the pretty young girls—a vicious crime, and with this crowd, there are no lack of suspects. On top of it all, the whole scene is beginning to hit close to home, and I may have to perform in a peep show of my own. One thing's for everyone better keep their stinking hands to themselves!

Officer Kurumi Reporting. Finally, my fiancé and I are taking a well-deserved vacation to the Blood Pond Spa to clear our heads—a little time to ourselves in the mountains. But psychopaths never want to take a holiday from me. Shingo and I arrive at the spa, where we run into a group of writers who, innocuously enough, are here for an awards ceremony. When one of the scribes suddenly turns up as Best Dead Novelist, everyone else is...well, everyone else is a suspect.Later, a murder threat is sent into the Metropolitan Police Department. The instructions are Go to the Ghost Building at midnight on November 10, and someone will die. I'll give you one guess who Inspector Himuro orders to be the lucky volunteer...

Officer Ayaki reporting. Naomi Sakaki—the teacher I met in that school bombing case—has been kidnapped. Some guy named Snail left a ransom one billion yen worth of diamonds if I ever want to see Naomi again. What's worse, he's got a big grudge against Himuro for some reason. And now Snail has me running all over town before we make the trade—if I'm not where he needs me to be, no one's going to see Naomi again. But I'm on to this guy, and getting closer—the only thing is, you're never going to guess where the trail finally leads... And there's no way in hell I can solve this one on my own. If I ever needed Himuro, now's the time.
