Born in New York on Long Island, Renée Benson was raised in upstate New York in the Hudson Valley. As an adult, she has also called Delaware, Tennessee, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Vermont, and Florida her home. Today she lives in Texas with her partner Robert just five doors away from her youngest son and his family. As a licensed clinical social worker who has worked in the field of mental health in various capacities both as a clinician and as an advocate for over twenty years, mental health topics often have a role in her stories though, that is not the focus of most of her stories. She has a master's degree in sociology and a master's degree in social work. She is a mom of three amazing sons and a grandmother of three beautiful children. She loves dogs. During the 1970s and ‘80s she had her poems published in several small literary journals. Since then she has continued to write but not publish poems. The Three of Them was her first published novel.
