My focus is memoir and creative nonfiction. In many respects, my work is about "memory capture." Why are some memories so vivid? What stories have stuck with me over the years? How did experiences change me, and why? I write to explore these questions. Also, of course, stuff happens every day that's funny and interesting. My wife wakes up in the middle of the night, her hair reminds me of a Daniel Boone coonskin cap. I think: I want to remember this. I grew up in a small town in the Midwest. I married an Italian immigrant. So there is frequently a multi-cultural theme in my writing (eating vanilla ice cream as a kid, eating gelato as an adult). I also review books. My new book, called And Now This: A Memoir in Essays, was just published by KDP.
