RICK ZEDNÍK was born in Aachen, West Germany, to a Slovak father and an American mother. After earning his master's degree from Columbia Journalism School, he moved to Bratislava and co-founded The Slovak Spectator newspaper in 1995. He has written for, among others, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. He is chair of the board and formerly chief executive officer of the EURACTIV Media Network, the policy news network based in Brussels, where he lives with his wife and their two children.
