Rivan V. King is a Bulgarian autistic queer woman, passionate about life, story-telling, nature, history, linguistics, many other interests such as singing, painting, photography, dancing, tailoring, video games and more. In love with her Bulgarian language, Rivan also writes soulful poetry. She stands with all oppressed peoples including all wildlife. The young author grew up in poverty, surviving a heavy childhood, experiencing horror stories daily. As the eldest of three siblings, she was the guardian and guide in the family, working to be everything the surrounding adults couldn’t or wouldn’t be, to provide support, love, compassion and care, and be an example of a good and just human being with a soul in a world of heartlessness. At the age of 14, El’s journey began as a way for Rivan to escape her oppressive reality. The book was ready to be published at the age of 17, when a Bulgarian publishing company took “El” to more readers, connecting Bulgarian audiences across the country with the world of the Communion. At the age of 21, Rivan translated the book to English by herself, designed and illustrated the cover, then self-published the book, and that is how it got to you! Rivan appreciates each and every one of her readers – home and abroad. With this book, she calls upon her international readers to love radically, feel their outrage and never succumb to despair and defeat. She hopes to comfort the discomforted, discomfort the comforted, and show a path with a light brighter than a man-made light bulb, because El is a spark that can inspire the entire world to stand for Love and Truth.
