I was born and raised in the USA and left for the Netherlands when I was a university student. From the early 1990s, I worked for Radio Netherlands Worldwide as a reporter, news editor and program host. In 2010, fellow reporter Joep Dohmen and I won 3 awards for investigating and exposing sexual abuse in the Roman Catholic Church in the Netherlands. My next project was to write my first book, a Dutch, non-fiction account of the abuse scandal and its impact on my personal life. The book's title is: Een verzwegen leven. Because it's aimed at readers in the Netherlands, I often blog in Dutch rather than English. I live in the Netherlands with my wife. We have four children.
