She is also host of a local radio program called Someone You Should Know. Watt became an EMT in 2005 after a year of volunteering with the Squad as an Emergency Medical Responder. Her EMS series, Fixin' Stupid, A is for Airway and B is for Breathing, draws on her experiences and many of the stories are based on real situations or patients. Due to HIPAA laws, she is cautious to ensure the privacy of her current patients, placing the events in a fictional town of Tuckerville, Tennessee, changing names and ages. Moon of the Hawk, her first novel, is a story of friendship, love, murder, revenge and justice, set in Arizona in the mid-80's. Many of the events in the book are based on events she experienced. Ms. Watt wrote Moon of the Hawk while living in California. During that time she worked for companies that designed and built jails and prisons. She frequently worked with various members of law enforcement, including meetings with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and members of various tribes regarding the construction of tribal jail facilities. In her California life, Ms. Watt was an avid horsewoman. Her northern California home bordered the American River and Folsom Lake, where she spent many weekends and evenings riding alone or with friends. The experiences on horseback described in the book are close to many real life situations she encountered. Mountain lions were not uncommon in this part of California and she had several encounters with them, including one close call with a lion that had just killed one of her goats.
