Rock 'n' Roll Nights
1911
High school student by day, aspiring rock-and-roll idol by night, Gary Specter dreams of the time when he and his band will be recognized as the best new rock group in New York City. Nobody ever told Gary it would be easy to make it to the top. Still, he wonders if all rock stars have to put up with quite as many headaches as he does: endless tantrums by his cranky but gifted keyboard player; being managed by his drummer's flaky ex-hippie mother; gigs in dumps like the Rock Garden, formerly a Chinese restaurant. To top things off there's Gary's preoccupation with Susan, the band's bass player and the only girl Gary's ever been attracted to—except that she's his first cousin. However great the obstacles, Gary knows he's got talent. He'll keep on, polishing his songs, tightening the band's performance, working for the break that will propel them into the magic realm of rock-and-roll stardom. And that could happen any night.
