Skye… I’m hosting my old university friend’s wedding and reception at my family home - a small castle on the outskirts of Dublin City. Don’t get too excited - believe me when I asset rich, dirt poor. Any generational wealth is long gone. So, an opportunity to pump some cash into the old pile is always welcome. But, when Caitlin asks me to be her bridesmaid, I won’t lie, I’m not thrilled. I’m shy and reserved, which some might (do) call aloof and cold. What can I say? I sound posh and rarely let anyone close enough to see any softness. I have trust issues. Everything is going swimmingly until I meet the best man, Jack MacAuley. He rubs me up wrong from the first moment we meet – over-confident and downright abrasive. The fact that he looks like a rough-around-the-edges Ryan Gosling and emits enough sex appeal to light up the global grid makes me double down on that dislike. I don’t even like sex. It’s not my thing. And this man screams SEX. But now he sees me as a challenge. A code to crack. An ice-queen to melt. A bridesmaid to bed. What a cliché! I am determined not to become his next cliché/conquest but Jack is very persuasive and when he touches me I find myself reacting in ways I’ve never felt before. Suddenly everything I thought I knew about myself is being rewritten and my trust issues are the least of my worries…this ice-queen is on fire.
