A former military brat, then military spouse, S.R. Howen lives in Texas with a dozen cats, two squirrels, one raccoon, one dog, and her daughter. A traditional naturalist, she stays busy working with wild life and cat rehab and rescue centers. Ms. Howen was born a storyteller, much to the amusement of her grandfather and the chagrin of her parents. She honed her writing skills first as an editor then teaching workshops on the craft of winning synopsis and query letters. Her writing career began when she meshed her love of the written word with her passion for her Native American heritage. She has received high praise, 2014 EPIC award winner, for highlighting the struggles of traditional Native American values and practices in a contemporary modern world, while meshing suspense with the supernatural, in the first two books of her American Indian series, Medicine Man, currently available at Wild Child Publishing (http://www.wildchildpublishing.com). Book three of this series has a pending publication date of 2014.
