EN/ES My novels are a combination of mystery, psychological suspense and philosophical (or existential) proposals, starring singular and individualistic characters who go in search of themselves and after the big questions that are still unanswered (almost all the important ones). And all this without giving up a plot that maintains interest and tension until the end. I am perhaps the only member (is there anyone else?) of a movement that should never have died: Romanticism. The best way to define my New Romanticism continues to be the one Novalis used on his time: "Insofar as I give a higher meaning to what is commonplace, and a mysterious appearance to what is ordinary, the dignity of the unknown to what is known, a semblance of infinity to what is finite, I romanticize it". Let's romanticize. The ultimate goal of any work of fiction is to make us feel more alive, move us, provide us with unforgettable moments, discover something new about ourselves, in addition to expanding and reaffirming our ideal of life. A book should captivate us, amuse us, fascinate us, make us bigger. That is my goal when I write. I am the author of Black Bile, Arcadia and Heroica, and the plays The Silence, The Great Pretender, Topophilia and Men. I am the founder and co-director of Aristeia Press and the creator of the magazine La Conquista de Aristeia. Mis novelas son una combinación de misterio, suspense psicológico y propuestas filosóficas (o existenciales), protagonizadas por personajes singulares e individualistas que van en busca de sí mismos y tras las grandes preguntas que aún están sin contestar (casi todas las importantes). Y todo eso sin renunciar a una trama que mantenga el interés y la tensión hasta el final. Soy quizá la única integrante (¿hay alguien más?) de un movimiento que nunca debió morir: el Romanticismo. La mejor forma de definir mi Nuevo Romanticismo sigue siendo la que Novalis usó en su momento: "En cuanto doy alto sentido a lo ordinario, a lo conocido dignidad de desconocido y apariencia infinita a lo finito, con todo ello romantizo". Romanticemos. El fin último de cualquier obra de ficción es hacernos sentir más vivos, conmovernos, proporcionarnos momentos inolvidables, descubrirnos algo nuevo sobre nosotros mismos, además de ampliar y reafirmar nuestro ideal de vida. Un libro debe cautivarnos, divertirnos, fascinarnos, hacernos más grandes. Ese es mi objetivo cuando escribo.
